Reclaiming our power.
Our first round of 2024 general election endorsements.
No matter the color of our skin, our immigration status, or what's in our wallets, most of us want the same things in life: the freedom to learn and send our kids to world-class public schools, the freedom to make a better life for our families and choose where we call home, and the freedom to vote and have an equal say in the decisions that affect our lives.
But for too long, extreme, out-of-touch members of the state legislature have hijacked our state for their own interest, taking money from out of state groups to push a radical agenda that hurts all of our communities. They defund our public schools, ban our right to reproductive healthcare, and keep guns on our streets–and then try to divide and distract us by attacking immigrants, blaming us for their shortcomings.
Now it's time to reclaim our power.
We know in order to build power for all our communities, we need to hold the line against the Republican supermajority and chip away at their authoritarianism. That's why immigrant and refugee voters and our allies–from Memphis to Mountain City–are heading to the polls to support candidates in critical races where we can build towards restoring balance to the legislature to protect our freedoms, families, and futures.
TIRRC Votes is proud to endorse these champions in races critical to holding back and chipping away at the oppressive supermajority in the state legislature:
HD13 Jonathan Yancey
HD49 Luis Mata
HD57 Ailina Carona
HD60 Shaundelle Brooks
HD67 Ronnie Glynn
HD75 Allie Phillips
HD83 Noah Nordstrom
HD96 Gabby Salinas
HD97 Jesse Huseth
SD22 Karen Reynolds
Just like we've come together in the past unseat legislators who voted against the community's needs, we can come together this year to elect these champions, chipping away at our current supermajority so that all of us have a say in the halls of the state legislature.
We know to build long-term power and passing policies that move our state forward, we have to throw down every year, in every election. That's why we will be releasing more endorsements in the coming weeks so our communities can confidently cast their votes up and down the ballot.
But it starts now, with these champions. If you are ready for a state legislature that protects your freedoms, family, and future, make your plan to be a voter to help us build a state where everyone can thrive.
