Stand with immigrant families. Oppose HB2078/SB2802.
Whether Black or white, native or newcomer, we all want the freedom to live our lives and to be safe in our communities. But instead of being serious about safety, some legislators are trying to control us and tell us how and where we can travel and what loved ones we can take with us.
Tuesday, the House Criminal Justice Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee will be voting on HB2078/SB2802 to criminalize the transportation of Tennesseans who are undocumented. This law could make people afraid and suspicious of each other in every community. It might lead to people becoming suspicious of their neighbors who are immigrants and could increase racial profiling. This law could target specific communities more than others based on their skin color or language. Laws that create fear and suspicion are bad for all our communities.
But we know when we come together, we can win. We have defeated dangerous legislation in the past, and now we need your help to protect our communities and stop this dangerous bill from becoming law.
